This set of Victorian-style Acme Black Cast-Iron Mortise Shutter Hinges (3 1/8-Inch x 2 1/2-Inch) is used in applications when enough wood trim is exposed within the window opening to mount the shutters. Unlike surface mounted straps, they are mortised into the edge of the shutter and the inside edge of the window frame (much like an interior door hinge). Mass produced by Lull & Porter in the mid-nineteenth century, the Acme hinge features a patented locking pintle design where the outer leaf rises slightly when opening then sets down to lock in place in the fully open or shut position, preventing lift-off from strong winds. When needed, the shutters are easily lifted off by hand without removing the hardware. Made of heavy duty cast iron, they feature a black weather-resistant powder-coated finish. The set includes two right-hand hinges, two left-hand hinges and two sill-mounted fasteners - enough to complete one window.
Square and simple in design, our versatile Transom Latch goes with everything, from Victorian to Mid-Century Modern. The circa 1900 design features all brass parts. The latch housing is stamped sheet brass, while the tongue, hook loop and strike plate are solid, cast brass. Choose from an array of popular finishes! This spring-loaded latch is typically installed at the top of the window sash and operated with a pull chain or pole-mounted transom hook (use transom chains to keep the sash from falling open). The base of the strike is mounted to the inside of the window frame and the catch portion protrudes over the sash, in order to engage the latch.
Heavy duty 1/8-inch thick steel hangers designed for wood screens or storm sashes that need to open at the bottom for ventilation or egress. Each set includes 2 hooks & 2 hangers - enough for one sash.
This late Victorian style casement latch is as practical as it is beautiful.
