Good product, but could be more adaptable

Comments:

This is a high quality product, but is not at all flexible - it holds the window is either FULLY OPEN or CLOSED - there is no middle ground. Only ONE notch is provided to hold the window open - in my case this holds the window too far open, and the rain drips off the roof onto the lower part of the sash. For virtually no additional cost, the manufacturer could provide a series of notches, so that the window could be open ""just a crack"", 2-3 inches, 4-5 inches, and full. I am going to try to cut additional notches myself, but they will never be as clean as the factory cut notches.

Nicely shaped SS objects

Comments:

Stays are well made. Worked quite well for my use. I do wish they were made in different lengths; I didn't like what an extreme angle my sashes would open to with the stays installed in their intended orientation, and had to flip them to reduce the open-to angle. This worked ok, but a better solution would be to have multiple seats on the bars for the catch. That way you'd have adjustability on every window. Or to offer another, shorter version of the stays. Other than that, I like them. They have a nice clean look about them, and-carefully installed-work beautifully.

Opening church windows

Comments:

Needed stays for my up and out swing stained glass windows. Not only do they work perfectly, but the also manage to add a little security when the window is closed.

My home was but in the 1890's and the original wood storm windows are long gone, which means the double hung windows have been exposed to Denver winters and are in bad shape. Before removing and restoring the window sashes, I'm installing new wood storm windows that I'm building myself. These storm stays are the perfect finishing touch once everything is put back together, and they help keep the middle of the storm window snug against the window frame. My window frames are about 60 inches high, so each sash is about 30 inches high. To install the stays, I located the hinge and keeper 18 inches above the sill. This allows plenty of room for operation and allows the bottom of the storm to extend 14 inches from the sill. The small metal piece is the keeper and attaches to the window frame. Mine are not centered but mounted slightly closer to the storm to allow a gap for the weather stripping on the storm. Otherwise when the stay is in the vertical position the weather stripping would be too compressed. Mount the keeper first, then mark the location for mounting the stay arm to the storm window while the window is closed. You need to be accurate so nothing binds or rubs when opening the storm window.

Storm window brackets

Comments:

Beats the old brackets that came with the storm windows we had made for us.

These are AWESOME!!!!

Plan on ordering more for the rest of the windows in the house

These suit our purpose

Comments:

We have a 1940s Spanish style home with unique windows. These stays are the closest thing we've found to for our transom windows. They will require some modification, but again, no one else had nothing remotely suitable.

I'm removing the terrible aluminum storms from my 1929 Bungalow, and restoring the original storms. Its so awesome that I can find the right parts for the right job. These stays work great, are easy to install and complete the restoration of my windows.
