This switch is great!!

I really like this switch and have saved the webpage as a favorite to my home file so I can order more when needed. This switch replaced an original push button switch in my 100 year old craftsman style home. It has worked flawlessly. I called an electrician to instal it professionally and observed the installation. It took him just a few minutes as he need to make extenders form my knob and tube wiring. When I instal push button switches in the future, I will just look at the work he did here as my model for which side of the switch to instal the wiring. The box behind the switch has holes for inserting the wires and instaled screws for securing the wiring. Very little pressure has to be applied to trigger the switch so touch it lightly - it makes an audible ""click"" sound when turning on and off just like the push button switch it replaced though the plastic housing is both lighter and takes up less space than the ceramic housing on the old switch. The push buttons are stylish and easily visible when the room is dark.
Push Button Switches = Excellent
Comments:
Absolutely wonderful reproductions. There is a distinct difference between the original push buttons (made with steel) and the reproductions (made with plastic). The 'boing' of the original is a little hollow on the reproductions. This is noticeable only if you have a significant amount of knowledge of push buttons and have used original push buttons. That said, *every* single person who has come to our house has thought the push buttons were/are authentic. No one can tell they are reproductions, which is cool. There are reports of the mother-of-pearl inlays falling off. I bought something like ~20 of the push buttons and so far had one mother-of-pearl inlay fall off. A quick dab of gorilla glue worked fine. No issues and that is really a non-issue. Fantastic.
Intersting piece of hardware

I am restoring an 1886 Queen Anne victorian. I bought one of these to test. It looks good and works fine. This switch is something that fits perfectly into a project to bring ""old world charm"" to a room. I am going to get more. I did not give 5 stars because they are not as high quality as normal light switches made in the USA.
retro switches
Comments:
I love the look of these switches and the price was good. They have an authentic ""click"" when you push in the button which I like. One of the switches ordered had buttons that didn't push in straight which H.of A.H. promptly replaced. But now I notice that another switch is starting to do the same thing where you push the button and it goes in crooked. So not sure if that is going to be an issue that creaps up over time. The quality seemed to be similar to other switches of this type that I looked at from other stores but could still be lacking overall. So not sure if I would recommend these yet. (installed about 10 of them and 2 having issues)

Review of push button light swtiches

We're using these are we renovate/restore our 1920's rowhouse in Washington, DC. When paired with the swtichplates we also ordered from House of Antique Hardware, it really gives each room an extra special touch.
Beautiful and solid style

I was not completely sure about the installation, but one call to House of Antique Hardware answered all my questions leaving me with the confidence I needed to complete the project without any problem.
High Qualilty Product
Comments:
I am having an old apartment building restored that was constructed in 1910, and most of the push button light switches had been replaced. It was nice finding reproductions of high quality to enhance the project.
Overall a Good Replica
Comments:
Overall, this is a good replica. Would suffice for most individuals trying to restore the authenticity of their home which may have used push-button switches. The only downfall to this switch is that when you push the bottom button to turn the switch ""off"", there is a spring sound; feels a little cheap. Occassionally, the button gets stuck if you are not pushing it perfectly staight.
Nice and LOUD.
