Looks like my granmother's house

Comments:

House built in 1898. Everyone is impressed with the old look. No high tech look for us.

Functional, but deceptive

Comments:

I bought some of these switches because I had been looking at upgrading old pushbutton type switches for many years. These are UL listed. There do not seem to be any other options for this type/brand of switch. It works well, but it is simply a modern pushbutton switch and a rheostat housed in a plastic housing. This is ok, but it really bugs me that both buttons protrude maybe 3/16 more out than the normal SPST pushbutton switch sold by HOAH. This may be explained as a safety feature, or that it is easier to operate. I think that the design could be improved on by recessing the plate where the switch holes are. The other thing is that the grounding screw is small and atypical of any AC grounding screw that I have seen lately. For the money, I expected a more robust design, and one which is more congruous with other switches instead of sticking out and looking weird. I could probably ""fab up"" my own version of this, and that is somewhat pathetic. If I knew that the switch looked so different, I might not have purchased it. It would be helpful to would be purchasers if HOAH provided a good side view photo or side view drawing showing the difference in push button length from standard switches, or was just forthcoming with this information in their description.

Great function and historic look

Comments:

This is great, but please note that the buttons stick out further then the regular push buttons. If you have them next to each other you will see a difference. The switch works great and still has the historic switch look.

Average push button dimmer switches

Comments:

I renovated my 1880's circa house in historic Lewes DE. Trying to stay vintage with the house I wanted to do the push button switches everywhere. I liked that they were black and mother of pearl inlay on the buttons, BUT what they really are, are modern light switches outfitted with cheap plastic push buttons....and the push buttons come off. The push buttons are not solid and not attached in a way to prevent them popping off. So if you clean the switches and brush too hard...look out the button pops off. It's a pain. Might have to result to super gluing them on somehow...and I have about 30 of them in my house- combination of switches and dimmers.

Beautiful to Look At!

Comments:

We're working on ""updating"" our home back to it's original character that is consistent with the age of the house (1907) but still has our own style showing through. We got this switch to replace the one in the dining room and wanted to be able to dim the light at times. It matches the original switches found in other parts of the house perfectly.

Awesome dimmer

Comments:

Bought a few of these to install in our 1905 home in Texas. The quality is great and very easy to install. I'll be buying more as I work my way through the house.

mother of pearl

Comments:

the product is great but the variation in the mother of pearl makes it look like there is only one pearl button. I understand this is the natural variations but it is virtually black. this is the second switch from this line that this has been the case. Everything else I love about the entire line.

Dimmer switch

Comments:

At first the switch felt cheap and loose. Once installed, it all came together and tightened up. I added a bronze cover and it looks and works well.

Dimmer switch that looks like authentic push button switch.

Comments:

Ordered this switch to replace a 20 year old authentic reproduction switch we wore out. In our home, built in 1916, it looks just like the old style push button switches but with the dimmer capabilities that we need. My husband is an electrician so he changed the switch with ease.
