I bought a new lockset that replicated the original 80 year old lockset perfectly. For the best outcome make sure the measurements are precise and consult a professional if needed.

Mortise Replacement Assembly
Comments:
Using reclaimed and restored items where possible the super-she-shed is coming along nicely. The door however was in need of some TLC. After dealing with that the hardware was beyond it's useful life. The same hinges, great, the lock assembly, not so much. The new hardware fit nicely with some tweaking, accepted the original knobs, through rod and plates. It made the entire setup look original, older, used and completely functional. Being new construction I built a modified frame and the door seals just like a modern door. Possibly better. The latch has sufficient wiggle room to avoid future stress/use damage and I did not need to modify the door to fit the lock as was suggested might be necessary. Overall, extremely satisfied with the outcome.
Newer versions no longer fit 9/32"" spindles
