Large Door Handle with Thumb Piece
Description
Traditional S grip entry handle to be used with entry mortise locks for thumb to thumb or thumb to knob functions. Made of solid forged brass and measures 9 1/2" tall by 2 3/4" wide including the bevelled mounting plates. The handle projects 3" and C-C of mounting bolts is 6 1/2". Includes steel thru bolts and finish matching bolt covers for the inside of the door. Works with our thumb to knob entry lock R-01BM-8896X
Hardware Tip
Thumb latch: Usually refers to a thumbpiece above the door handle, which when depressed by the thumb, unlatches the door.

House of Hardware to the rescue!

Sadly, while away, our house ""sitter"" was unable to enter our home. For reasons unknown, the thumb latch, original to our 1929 front door no longer engaged. Back home, we called a professional locksmith to replace the handle and thumb latch. Only Antique Hardware had the exact reproduction, thankfully. It was an intricate job to replace because the new handle was somewhat different in size. He did a magnificent job replacing the handle and thumb latch. It looks and works beautifully!
