6 lock sets just received from UPS
Comments:
I own a 112 year old home that is on the National Register of Historic Places. I am in the process of reversing an unwise ""modernization"" done in 1967. Beautiful paneled doors and transoms were remove and ugly slab doors were installed. Next week new authentic, period correct, paneled doors, transoms and trim is scheduled to be delivered. These six lock sets will be placed on the new doors as was the arrangement on the original doors. I held my breath and reveresed one for left hand operation per the instructions I found on this web site. Worked like a charm. These lock sets look very similar to the three I still have in the house.
A little too stiff - and some modern give-a-ways
Comments:
This door handle assembly looks the part overall. and most people will not notice that it is a repro. however, the allen wrench-type screws that hold the knob in place are a little too obvious for my liking. You can't always adjust them to go on the bottom. The old one have flat-head screws. Also, shape of the knob shaft has no flair like an original. The painted finish should probably be a little flatter.... small details I could go on. The knob is stiff and wiggles to the wrong way, so you often quarter turn it the wrong way before you remember and turn it the right way. I'm hoping it will loosen up, as a bought a similar item last summer, and that one loosened up.
A perfect match to my origionals
Comments:
Added a powder room to our old farm house and the rim lock set matches the origionals in the house perfectly. The quality is very impressive. I will be dealing with The House of Antique Hardware in the future.
aDOORable product
Comments:
We have owned our 1880's Victorian for over 43 years. During that time we have tried to keep everything as original as possible. We have looked for replacement parts to fix our rim lock door hardware at every antique store we come across to no avail. We finally found this website and decided to give these a try. We only ordered 3 to start. After installing those we ordered the rest. The installation only required enlarging the key hole in the door minimally with a rasp. Everything else lined up with the door perfectly. Except for the gold finish on the interior lock tab you can't tell the difference from the original ones.
Antique door lock at value
Comments:
Best value found in this kind of product, getting Victorian era feel to match what's in the rest of the house. Size is a little different from the originals, but not far off.
Antique Door Locks with Skeleton Keys
Comments:
We had a project we were doing for a family on a home built in the 1800's they wanted the new addition to look like the original house, right down to the doors and door knobs. It took me about an hour until I located your locks on the web and ordered them. They are a little pricey for the average person but they are well worth the price.
Antique rim locks
Comments:
Love these handles, I live in a historic town where antique hardware is not only aesthetically pleasing but historically accurate these are good solid handles that function perfectly and match the 100 year old originals beautifully
ask Q&A before replaceing existing lock
Comments:
I liked the product. Since I was replacing an existing lock in a very old bldg. I just wish the nail holes were the same as older locks. That the lock lever was the same color as the rimlock and that the screws provided were longer to go through to the wood, it feel off the first day. Unfortunately its hard to find black screws as long as needed. I had to paint the new screws. Detail tweaking needs to be done...Still I recommended to friends.
attention to detailes
Comments:
working parts inside need more attention to the machineing of the parts. they do not move smoothly when operated.had to smooth edges to make it function smoothly, lube needed.
