Great rim lock door hardware

Comments:

The rim lock sets went on easily and seem to be very sturdy. Our doors are original and a couple are warped after 200 years of age, so we have to slam doors or push really hard in order to get the lock to engage. This problem is entirely with our doors and not the rim lock set. In fact, it's a testament to the sturdiness of these rim locks that they can withstand the slamming and pressure our doors put on them. Only complaint is with the door knobs. The post or stem or whatever you call the metal piece that extends through the door is much longer than we needed, so we had to saw off about an inch from each end. That took a while. Again, I suspect the cause of the problem is our original doors and the fact that they are so thin.

HANDSOM & FUNCTIONAL

Comments:

For a better bite into the door, I recommend using longer #9 wood screws instead of the short #7's that are included with these rim lock sets. Also, for a sharper look, I bought brass #9 screws. The contrast of the black lock with brass screw heads really looks great. Like most new doors, mine too was pre-bored for a standard (modern) latch set, so I had to make two round wooden plugs to glue into those holes. But I have my own lathe so it was a simple job to make the plugs. Eventually, when I can afford more new doors, I want to do the same with all the interior doors in our home.

Interesting product and look. Excellent quality rimlock.

Historically accurate product that fits right in!

Comments:

Great product I just wish I could use more! I wanted to use them in a bed and breakfast but all the keys match :( Would love to see lock variations.

HORRIBLE FAILURE

Comments:

After 3 years of working fine, the lock broke internally, and locked my bathroom door shut forever. We had to break down the door in order to get back into the room. Do not purchase this lock.

I am in absolute LOVE with these door knobs!! Top quality

Finally found what we were looking for, for years. Will keep your address handy. We have a stone house built in 1862 in Quebec, Canada and all the door locks were finished. We consider ourselves very lucky to have found your site. We will order again for sure. The service from your people was very courteous and helpful. Thank you for being there. Installation Instructions Missing

Comments:

The product was advertised as ""reversable for left or right handling"" but there were no instructions on how to do this. I have prior experience with other brands of such locksets which had instructions on how to reverse for left or right handling. It was impossible to figure out how to do this with your product. I had to install the lockset upside down in order to use it on a left handling door.

It took some work

Comments:

The big problem with this unit is the spindles. The square un-threaded portion should not be centered on the spindle(preferred) or the un-threaded portion should be longer to allow the un-threaded portion to fully bear against corresponding part in the lock itself. As designed threads bear against the square cavity for the spindle. I took the long spindle and cut about 1/2"" from the length to achieve almost full square to square bearing on a 1 3/8"" door. I have only installed 3 or 4 locks on new doors, all others being modern, but this was the most difficult I have ever encountered.
