Ovolo Single Gang Push-Button Switch Plate

Heavy cast brass is substantial. Although many of the positive traits are unknowable to the casual user, I know.. The receptacles need to be shimmied out for the plate to seat correctly, but easily done. The major detractor is the ""antique brass"" finish. It looks as though it came from a run-of-the-mill home center. If the turnaround time of the orders was better, I'd return and replace with unlaquered and age them myself. I have begun removing the cheesey factory finish and am re finishing them, which I am certain is faster. In spite of that headache, still happy overall.

I recently purchased a 1920's condo and wanted to change out my switch plates to look a little more fun. I was extremely surprised when I opened my package to discover how sturdy and well made these are for the price. I purchased more to match throughout the condo.

note that this does not match old egg and dart switch plates. if you have the old style plates, these are different. you will need to replace everything for a perfect match.

This plate a heavy and seriously well cast. The details are crisp and sharp. But, I wish that it came in a raw brass option - the polished brass is just too shiny and bright, and doesn't match the rest of the brass in my 1870s house. I used brass ager on it, but ended up taking it off. The effect could not match the rich, deep beauty of the raw brass plates I purchased at the same time. Thus, although I love the Ovolo design (and will definitely be using it in the baths, where I have nickel instead of brass), I will stick with a model that has the option for raw brass (versus unlacquered brass) for the rest of the house. #sweepstakes

The egg and dart plate adds a nice touch to a bedroom without being too showy. Looks great!
