This set of Victorian-style Acme Black Cast-Iron Mortise Shutter Hinges (4 1/2-Inch x 2 7/8-Inch) is used in applications when enough wood trim is exposed within the window opening to mount the shutters. Unlike surface mounted straps, they are mortised into the edge of the shutter and the inside edge of the window frame (much like an interior door hinge).
