Description

This set of Victorian-style Acme Black Cast-Iron Mortise Shutter Hinges (6 1/2-Inch x 3 1/2-Inch) is used in applications when enough wood trim is exposed within the window opening to mount the shutters. Unlike surface mounted straps, they are mortised into the edge of the shutter and the inside edge of the window frame (much like an interior door hinge). Mass produced by Lull & Porter in the mid-nineteenth century, the Acme hinge features a patented locking pintle design where the outer leaf rises slightly when opening then sets down to lock in place in the fully open or shut position, preventing lift-off from strong winds. When needed, the shutters are easily lifted off by hand without removing the hardware. Made of heavy duty cast iron, they feature a black weather-resistant powder-coated finish. The set includes two right-hand hinges, two left-hand hinges and two sill-mounted fasteners - enough to complete one window..

Exactly like the Originals

Comments:

The first shipment arrived with one of the hinges broken. It was immediately replace by the company in a no-hassle exchange.

Nothing compares to these hinges

Comments:

After years of hanging shutters on the standard H Hinge I finally hit a home with the Acme Hinges. The original shutters and hinges had all been removed and discarded by a contractor. These have a unique outline so it was easy to see the original were ACME. I make shutters so it's always great to have hardware that adds to the look and design. I will admit any home that is missing it's hinges will now be replaced by these ACME hinges rather then the flat steel H hinge.
