Cast iron window stop

Comments:

Roped window weights were broken. This device prevented the window from crashing down and held it in an open position.

Clasic Functionality

Comments:

I purchase these elegant items to round up my orders[...]They're simple, function well and add a little class to any old guillotine type farm-house window.

Couldn't figure it out

Comments:

There were no instructions and we could't figure it out. We are new to home restoration so instructions would have been helpful.

Don't underestimate this little hook!

Comments:

I purchased these cast iron hooks my windows that no longer have a working rope and pulley system. I'm SO happy with them! The hooks are well made, solid, useful, convenient, and when you notice them (they blend in well with the wood windows) look great.

Excellent solution for old windows

Comments:

I have several windows, new and old, in an 1840's farmhouse. Some of the old ones have been retrofitted with new tracks, but the sashes still slide down. This window catch works great and is very secure in preventing the sash from slamming shut.

Finally got rid of the sticks!

Comments:

We were very happy to finally find these so we could get rid of the sticks holding up our 170 year old window sashes. The manufacturers instruction for installation, which is just a drawing, didn't work for us, it shows the window stop installed hanging down from the screw and supporting the sash via the curlicue but our sashes would slide over the curve on the curlicue and push the stop out of the way and close. We ended up installing them to point up with the curlicue pointing to the outside of the window and the sash rests on the small arm. Overall we are very happy with them.

How to Use

Comments:

How to actually use the item was a mystery. It appears that it works best if you flip the small edge up and under the window edge so that it creates pressure on the small V (with the curled edge facing into the room). Mfr. has added a small installation guide which is somewhat helpful. To protect the finish of the window from being scratched I will install a small brass washer as a shim and leave the mounting screw slightly loose.

Simple, easy to install and effective!

Window stop

Comments:

This window stop was perfect for my house. To bad I didn't know these window stops were available several years ago when we rehabilitate the rest of our rooms in our house. This was a huge time saver and a great look for the the room. Thanks
