Description

The classic and versatile 4-inch ball tip door hinge has been a favorite since the late 19th century. Our authentic reproduction hinge has a loose pin with attached finial, slotted and Phillips wood screws, and heavy duty 1/8-inch thick leaves - just like the originals. Made of heavy duty cast iron with a lacquered finish.

Dimensions: 4" x 4" not including ball finials. Leaf thickness is 1/8".

Hardware Tip

Question: How are butt hinges measured? Answer: The height is just of the leaf not including the finials and the width is the total open width of both leaves and the knuckle.

Beautiful, nicely made hinge!

Comments:

I bought three of these in the 4"" to hang a custom arched cherry door that I built. These worked so well! They are made to very tight tolerances and seem heavy duty. Supplied are your choice of slotted head or Phillips head screws, and lots of extras for each.

Cast Iron Hinge for House of Antique Hardware

Comments:

We used a similar hinge on other four panel doors and needed the larger four inch hinges for two heavier doors. They operate smoothly and silently with good fit and finish.

Great vintage looking Hinge!

Comments:

Was missing one hinge for a heavy mahogany interior door. These hinges blend right in with the originals. A+

Heavy duty quality craftsmanship

Comments:

Installed a new front door and I was looking for new hinges to match the quality of the door.

Hinges for replacement of shutter hardware

Comments:

These hinges replaced ones from the Victorian era They fit perfectly in the old hinge pockets I would definitely buy again, well made I protected then against rusting in our climate by painting them black. Shutters are under cover

Perfect Hinges for the new doors Installed in an old house

Comments:

I was looking for a set of hinges that would give an authentic look while installing new doors in a century old house - perfect fit

Rough castings

Comments:

The cast versions are rough; there are obvious flaws and lots of rough sand marks. I wish I had just bought some old hinges to refurbish.

Why didn't I find this website sooner?!

Comments:

I actually ordered some antique hinges from a specialty shop in LA and got gouged on the price. It turned out those hinges didn't operate very smoothly so I still had to go online to find new hinges. Luckily, I found House Of Antique Hardware. I was a little skeptical at first since the price was pretty competitive. But the hinges showed up and looked nearly identical to the old antique hinges, except the operation was flawless... Go Antique Hardware! Will definitely be coming back for more.

Works great, and matches the house decor.

Comments:

Needed to find hinges that would match the look of all the rest the house. Had a real hard time finding ones that had the right dimensions and the two ball finials until I came upon these. They match the rest of the house size perfectly.
