Exactly the quality I'd hope for

Comments:

I felt a little weird spending $50 on a latch for my screen door, but it's the original wooden screen door and I thought it would be worth it since it gives people their first impression of our hundred year old house. It was an even better purchase than I expected. It arrived in what I'd describe as the hardware version of Apple packaging, very tidy and organized. Even though this latch is small, every component is remarkably heavy and overall just gives a feeling of quality, which is backed up in the actual construction. The knobs are heavy solid brass, and all the components are overbuilt like you'd expect from the best antique hardware. Installation was easy as far as latch installations go, no need to mortice anything, just drill a hole for the shaft and make sure your door has a flush surface on the outside with its frame, and that the inside has room to clear the knob since it is close to the edge of the door - there's about 5/8"" between the edge of the knob and the edge of the door. I aged mine with the Brass and Bronze Ageing Solution sold here which made it match the original hardware on the main door quite well.

Great quality and solid latch.

Comments:

Yes, this is quite expensive but I have to admit that the old saying goes....""you get what you pay for"" in this case. This door knob and latch is solid and high quality. I was so happy to see this when I opened the box because it made me have some faith that some people still make very high quality and solid products.

These Brought Character to our Renovation

Comments:

The hardware set was heavy and well made. You just have to be aware of the size before you order. These are not full sized knobs. They worked perfect for our small, custom attic doors and gave them the old feel that I was looking for. The only difficult part was getting them lined up where I wanted them (which wasn't THAT hard.) I really like them. I would buy them again. Little things like this really bring interest and character to a home. We are mid-renovation, but you can take a look at our pictures for inspiration.
