Almost perfect hook!
Comments:
I needed 3 more hooks to finish off the remainder of the shutters we were making. Previously, I purchased the same style hook from you but it had a twist. I was disappointed that they were no longer available and that this hook now was given the original item number from the wrought black hook with a twist. The customer service person I spoke with was just as surprised. I had no choice. Because of the location of the new ones you do not notice the difference. Had these been the only ones available originally I probably would not have ordered them. They are nice, they are authentic looking, but the old twist made them special. The staples to attach these are much heavier than the others I'd previously ordered, making them more durable. Make sure you 'pad' the staple when you hammer it in otherwise you chip the powder coat.
Awkward to install
Comments:
I like the look of the hook and eye, but it was quite a disappointment. The ""staple"" which attaches the hook, and provides the ""eye"", are a bad idea. They're angled, and not symmetrical, and so they wander as you hammer them in - essentially leaving you guessing where it'll end up. The ""eye"" staple split in half with a couple of light taps with a hammer, going into soft kiln-dried pine. Switching those staples to a screw design would make an awful lot of sense.
For more than just shutters
Comments:
We used this as a closure for a small board and batten closet under our stairs. This item, along with the bean strap hinges, really made the closet look authentic.
it's got the look

Searched everywhere for a simple black hook and eye for sliding barn type bathroom doors. These are perfect, and fit the decor very well. would not hesitate to buy again.
Just as expected...

Using it to hold up the window seat in a log cabin...looks great!
Thank you! A perfect match to our very old latch, mid-1800's
Comments:
We have one very old door hook from our mid-1800's farmhouse. And wanted to use something as much like it for bedroom door latches, in a smaller house, same age, that we are renovating. What a nice surprise to find find these online at House of Antique Hardware. Upon arrival, we laid them side-by-side with the one coming up on 175 years old; in appearance and weight, they are almost exact replicas. Thank you! I've book-marked a link to your site for future searches!
