Description

The classic and versatile ball tip door hinge has been a favorite since the late 19th century. Our authentic reproduction hinge has a loose pin with attached finial, slotted and Phillips wood screws, and heavy duty 1/8" thick leaves - just like the originals. Made of solid extruded brass for high strength and durability, it comes in our exclusive Antique by-Hand finish which ages gracefully over time into a beautiful natural patina. The 4" size hinge works for thicker interior doors or standard exterior doors.

Dimensions: 4" x 4" not including ball finials. Leaf thickness is 1/8".

Hardware Tip

Question: How are butt hinges measured? Answer: The height is just of the leaf not including the finials and the width is the total open width of both leaves and the knuckle.

Wonderful replacement hinges for antique French doors

Comments:

We used these hinges to replace antique hinges on our vintage French doors. (We only had 1/2 of the pieces of the pieces of the original sets). These are very close to the originals in size, weight and quality and the color is very passable for our use. These are substantial hinges for our very heavy oak doors. They were quite expensive, but for what we needed these were the ticket! We did have to adjust the holes a bit, since the pattern was off slightly from our original hinges, but once installed they look great and will serve these doors for at least another 100 years!
