Heavy Duty Swinging Door Floor Hinge With Solid Brass Cover Plates

This door stops at 85 degrees when opened and so protrudes into the opening. A call to their technician said this is the way it's designed. It poses a hazard to traffic when left open. I'm a homeowner, but build Eighteenth century furniture and have extensive handyman skills. This was a replacement for a thirty year old hinge which performed admirably and went to about 80 degrees past the perpendicular. I would only recommend this for a door which will remain closed.

This replacement hinge was very difficult to install - the hinge we removed was shorter, which resulted in the need to do some carpentry work on the door. Fortunately my brother had just struggled to replace his swinging door hinge with the same product, so he was able to work on mine, but it still took several hours to complete. The directions consisted of one page of illustrations, no written directions at all. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only replacement hinge available, so it can not be compared to any other product. The quality seems satisfactory, although the price is quite high for an item made in China.

it`s uselles, hinges were complete disappointment, there were assabled incorrectly and lloked like someone ren over with a semitruck.

This product met our needs and works very well

I used this to replace an existing unit that failed (50 yrs. old). W/a few cuts to the door it installed easily. However, The dress cover plates were not thought out very well. For one, you will notice they have holes for screws in all 4 corners and are provided w/4 wood screws to hold them on. Well the lower back hole covers only the mechanism (the door there is cut out), so there is nothing to attach the screws to. Also, as the direcytions indicate, the back of the door has to be rounded to allow the door to swing properly. Unfortunately, they did not curve the back edges of the dress plates - so they stick out as the door swings. You'll have to get creative here to make it work or set the door away from the wall w/a larger than need gap. As a note, when in operation, the mechanism will make a 'clicking' sound as it goes through its rotation. Other than that, it works fine!

We used this to install a pantry door using a very heavy antique door that was thicker than standard doors. This hinge seems to support it easily and operates very smoothly. I can't speak to install as our carpenter did it, but he didn't seem to have any trouble!
