Hardware Tip
Mortise Lock: Old style box lock that is installed into a deep pocket or “mortise” in the edge of the door. Generally, the mortise lock houses both the latch and dead bolt in one unit.

We bought the Ovolo mortise lock sets in polished brass with Waldorf crystal knobs after getting by with cheap replicas that were so noisy when opening and closing doors I was always weary to wake up my husband or guests. And the cheap sets rusted and the glass knobs would literally break off. We FINALLY invested in these simply gorgeous sets. They are worth every single penny and we only wish we had bought them sooner. Simply stunning, very very well crafted.
