Horrible Installation Instructions
Comments:
Used in front entrance of historic home. Although the item is quality, if it cannot be installed, it is useless. Took several days and numerous calls to customer service to sort out installation. The instructions included were incomplete and in several steps just plain wrong! Although there were 2 boxes, one for lock set and one for deadbolt, the hardware pieces were mixed between the boxes. The drill size for the installation screws is wrong. There is a plate that holds the deadbolt on that was totally omitted from the instructions. There were no instruction at all for the strike plate installation of lock set or deadbolt. When contacting customer service for size of hole to drill for the strike plate, was given wrong size. Had to search internet for strike plate installation and found that a template should have come with the set, there was none. For the price, it should come with complete and correct installation instructions. It appears they do not wish to assist you if you are installing a new door. The instruction are at best only if you are simply replacing the lock set.
Very disappointed
Comments:
Was so excited to get this piece, it matches my original 1920's hardware. Got it and installed, went to get keys made and they didn't work. Went to 3 different places and none of them worked. Contacted House of Antiques and was contacted soon after. Told them of my issue and they sent me 5 keys, none worked. Told them I had to get sets made for other people and that I felt this unit was faulty. They asked me for images so they could locate a lock for me. I sent pics from all angles and emailed back to the same person I had been dealing with and waited....waited and nothing. Emailed several more times and nothing. Months later....Woke up today, tried to leave to go to work, and now I'm locked in my house. The lock is broken, just turns and turns. Had to run out and purchase a new non-matching lock and it looks like terrible. I am so disappointed... I paid too much for this to not work.
