Great surface & workmanship, poor design

Comments:

There is no recess behind the plate, so it sticks out from the wall as much as the tabs and screws for your switches or recepticles stick out from the wall. If you are able to recess everything to exactly the right point, you could use them, but we could not. The back is perfectly flat. I don't know who designed these, but it wasn't anyone with even the slightest knowledge in switchplates--certainly no electrician.

Horrible installation!

Comments:

I just rebuilt my 90 year old brick bungalow after a house fire. I wanted to add something special to my home that went above and beyond the ugly plastic switch plates that came with the basic install of my new electric. I was so excited to see these, but I should have listened to the other review. My electrician HATES these! Without that recess on the back, he has spent hours custom fitting each switch. Thank heavens he feels sorry for me about the fire. They look gorgeous, but if you don't have what it takes (or the patience) to custom fit these, DON'T buy them!
