3" Cast Iron Steeple Tip Hinge With Decorative Vine Pattern

The hinges are cast iron and made in India. The detail is very good, authentic reproduction. I wasted too much time at flea markets, eBay and then stripping and cleaning antique hinges when I could have bought these.

The 3"" Cast Iron Steeple Tip Hinge with decorative vine pattern is an excellent choice if you are after a true Victorian-looking piece of hardware. It lacks but a little finishing to be perfect. The castings come right from the mold and lack the hand finish of an original. This is easily remedied by taking a file to the decorative face of each hinge half and filing the outside frame and decorative vine pattern to give them a bright smooth finish against the cast surface. The screws provided are slightly smaller than one would want but they are slotted which is a real plus.

Only ""con"" was that size varies slightly in same size hinges of different materials. Example: the solid brass hinge in the 2.5 inches size is slightly smaller than the cast iron hinge of the same size. Simple requires making another routing template--no big deal.
