Beautiful and good quality, but a few minor flaws
Comments:
I had someone install this for me. It's beautiful, but there are a couple issues. First, the screws for the lock face plate are too long. Not sure if that was just a mistake on the set I purchased or if it's like that for all (I did read one other review that mentions screws being too long). Second, the interior thumb turn plate has to be installed sideways (horizontal rather than vertical like the product photos) because there's not enough space between that and the rosette for the handle. Neither of those are dealbreakers, though, and it's still a beautiful set, especially for the price. Hopefully it will hold up as I continue to live with it, as I just had it installed today!

Great handle very sturdy
Customer Service is a ""10""
Comments:
I ordered two of the same locks to be installed in a new home (wildfire loss rebuild). They will be installed by the contractor so I cannot yet speak about how they work. However, I will say that the customer service and kindness of the owners are unsurpassed. I would happily order from them again and continue to check their web site for items that I may need for the new home. Customer service these days seems to be lacking, it's SO refreshing to find a company that truly cares.

Feel and Function
Comments:
This was exactly the door hardware I had been looking for in terms of aesthetics, functions, and cost. I grew up in a house with the push button functionality that this mortise lock provides and knew I what I wanted for my new front door. The installation was fussy in that I needed to install the mortise five times, each time to chisel out clearance for a different part; the thumb latch, the stem length for the interior knob, etc. The screws for the escutcheons were too long and bottomed out on the mortise lock body, getting shorter screws locally was not a problem. In the end everything is exactly what I wanted and perfect. On another note, with the new door I was able to retain the original copper interlocking weatherstripping and recommend this type of weatherstripping over using any 'modern' plastic materials.
Found the exact fit I was looking for

This was for a door on a house built in 1919 and was a great replacement for the original hardware
Nice upgrade to an old door
Comments:
We bought this to replace a worn out lockset on a circa 1929 door. The replacement fit in the mortise but the faceplate on the side of the door was larger requiring some chisel work. The lockset is substantial and the egress feature is comforting. Note that when the door is unlocked either by key or from the inside by turning the knob or the exterior thumb latch will not open the door! Every time you unlock the door you must push in the lower button on the side faceplate. Our old lock didn't work that way - it takes a week or so to get in the habit and you will get locked out if you forget.
Replacing New York Entry Hardware
Comments:
Because the lock assemble was made 1/2"" shorter and the handle mounting bosses were 1/2"" wider, The old mounting holes are exposed. These needed to be filled and stained to match the 100 year old door. The handle is held to the excuttion plates with large nuts that required enlarging the mounting holes to contain them. The lock box extra face plate required the recess edge to be deepened 1/16"". Gentle chisel work was required. The deadbolt is 2 1/2 times deeper than the original. This required deepening the receiving slot in the old very hard wood. A lot of fit and refit was required to get the installation correct without damaging the door. Giving more and better dimensions on the web site and the enclosed layout would have helped. The quality of the product will be decided in the next 100 years.
