4" Light Duty Surface Bolt In Solid Brass

I used these decorative brass slide bolts on a pair of fancy double doors and they look great and function well.

I used these to replace what was previously damaged. They actually are a bit different than original but not a big deal really since they are mostly concealed anyway. Also, the screw holes matched up perfectly with the original items so do drilling into the wood panels was necessary!!

Bougth two of these oil rubbed bronze color surface bolts for french door locking at top and bottom of door, they seem to be painted finish which i didnt like vs a hard heated up powder coat or electo galvanized dark finish which would last the life of the product, to be made cheaper these are definately painted, but smooth, and only showed immediate paint scraping marks on the inside face to the door, which does not show, however it did and does scrape the paint off and ever so lighlty dark paint begins to come off in a line where the bolt goes up and down, but again this is only on the side that presses against the wood of the door, not the side you can see, that side you can see no paint comes off and does not scrape, if this had not happened i would give this a 5 star review, as it is im only giving 4 stars, if it had scrapped off paint when usning the slid bolts on both side i would of returned them immediately, this however should be made with a electro hardened or powdercoated finish instead but unlikly as these are made overseas, the price was not cheap, but they slide easy, have all mounting bolts, screws, the screws should be phillips btw they are flat head btw, not happy about flat heads as they are harder to screw in, but it was ok because i predrilled the holes to mount, they are not cheap but look great installed, again the side touching flat against the wood door is 100% scraping the slide bolt and made a mark in the paint, once its done sliding about 15 times the mark is as bad as it will get and it does not wear more and does not show on the side you look at at all, that side is perfect, i am a perfectionist and give 100% real honest opinions

This latch has a nice weight and has a smooth closing action

I ordered 7 of these surface bolts. When they arrived, I saw that 2 of them were not put together correctly. I contacted the ""House"" and a customer representative sent me 2 replacements, free of charge. When they arrived I saw that one of the 2 was not put together correctly. I contacted the ""House"" again, with pictures showing the merchandise still in it plastic unopened sleeve. I did not ask for a replacement since I was weary of the ""give and take"". I need about 10 more of these for my house, but am hesitant about re-ordering. I am waiting to hear back about the quality of these Taiwan surface bolts, before I re-order. The quality of the intact surface bolts was great.

We purchased the 4' light duty surface bolts for new wood windows that went into a 1928 spanish revival home . After they were installed it became apparent that the integral stop that is supposed to keep the slide bolt from pulling out of its holders when you open it does not work at all. When you pull on the slide bolt it pulls out of the mounting hardware . These are terrible , obviously manufactured by someone that does not have the slightest idea of how they are intended to function.
