Refinishing an old door that has been pretty built up over its lifetime. This product helped to cover some of this and still maintain a vintage look.

Great for Restoration of an 1880 farmhouse
Comments:
Great for Restoration of an 1880 farmhouse I am SLOWLY restoring an 1880s farm house, with previous additions and renovations in 1930 and 1965. The original door plates were a dark brass plate, but 140 yrs later, and many hands and a few coats of paint - the original finish was gone. I ordered the Oil Rubbed Bronze - and they are 99% perfect. The original either 1880s or 1930s design is 1/16th larger that these. But they fit and look great!
Stylish Solution

Purchased this item to convert a vintage door back to it original hardware after someone put new doorknobs on the door. This plate covers the larger hole perfectly and makes the door look its 1922 age.
fantastic color options

We restored some old solid wood, 5 panel doors that had at least 6 layers of paint. We had to buy these back plated to cover up the big hole that was behind the old plate. This one was perfect. Just remember there are usually 2 pieces for each door. They look great, we chose the antique bronze.
item is exactly as pictured and described

Nice transition from original 1927 house fixtures to new remodel.
Saved the day for me
Comments:
My basement door was likely original to the house (1928). The original plate had an opening for a non-operating skeleton key which let in the cold air. This was the one company I found that carried this no keyhole plate in oil rubbed bronze. Metal was somewhat thinner than I'd hoped for, but at least it provided a solution to keeping the cold air out!
