These latches are OK
Comments:
These latches look okay but unfortunately they come with Phillip head screws which detract from a proper period appearance. The female cup part of the latch does not mate up well with the latch plunger so there is about an 3/32"" wiggle room between both pieces of the latch. The product is ok but could be much better by providing slotted head screws and a tweak in the female cup part of the latch to remove the excess space so the parts mated up properly.
A nice replacement latch for good value.
Comments:
Replacement of old door hardware that was in a home from the late 1800s. Nice finish.
Purchased to match existing hardware.
Comments:
Purchased this latch to fix a broken built in desk/cabinet in my 1920's home. The latch matches my existing hardware well, was easy to install, and functions as it is supposed to. The material is slightly flimsy, as my latch bent as I was screwing it in. It is not really noticeable, except to me. For the price, this latch is a good buy.
Nice cabinet latches. Historic appearance I was looking for!
Comments:
Cabinet latch blends in well with existing hardware at our historic cottage.
Added just the perfect finishing touch
Comments:
Easy to install and added just the perfect touch to my kitchen that I was looking for.
High quality for reasonable price
Comments:
The quality is excellent and the price was reasonable for the cabinet latches I ordered. They look nice and work well.
No Plastic Parts
Comments:
I wanted stamped steel latches because solid brass ones are too expensive and honestly would be ""over-restoring"" my working class old house. The only concern I had was that these might have plastic components inside, but they're all stamped steel like the originals. I see no reason they wouldn't also last 100+ years.
Antique Copper - - Not so much
Comments:
The latch itself is of good quality. However if any of you are shopping for the antique copper finish, be aware that it doesn't match the rest of House of Antique's cabinet antique copper stuff. The finish on these latches is pretty much solid black with ""hints"" of copper shine coming through. At best you could say it looks like oil rubbed bronze. The antique copper hinges I ordered (Product code: R-08BM-1561-AC) are actually pretty close to the 90 year old hinges I have in my kitchen. Not sure why house of antique would offer multiple cabinet items in antique copper and have them wildly different looking. I'm going to try my luck with their antique copper cast iron latches (Item code: RS-08TK-M1782) which are nearly triple the price as these. I'll leave a review there once they arrive.
Plated finish fades quickly
Comments:
In use this product on a medicine cabinet in our bathroom everyday. The played finish faded within a week and a half due to the high usage.
fail
Comments:
really cheesy looking--the catch is too big, so there is way too much play. Should have gone for the more pricey one. Why sell something that is so substandard?
