Latch dimensions: Latch case: 7/8" diameter. Latch face plate: 2 1/4" H x 1" W.

Beautiful but difficult

I spend a great deal of time shopping for an item before I buy it. I wanted to put crystal door knobs in my house, just like the ones in the house in which I grew up. These are perfect! Couldn't have been better, quality is unbelievable and ease of installation is incredible. If you're replacing existing knobs, you may have to do a little fill of the existing hole, as the rectangular mount may not completely cover. Not a major problem, just be prepared for it...

Having restored several homes using both authentic reproductions and restored original hardware, I have to say that this hardware is far superior in applications where you want to retain a classic loom but want the finished feel of modern mechanical hardware. The mechanical hardware is far superior to anything you can purchase at hardware/big box retailers, and the finishes are superb and solid. My current home is storybook/Tudor mix from the 1930s. The previous stupidly installed mortise style hardware (Edwardian and Victorian era hardware), and it was all very finicky. To make a long story shorter, I refinished the doors and retrofitted them with this hardware - everything closes with a nice ""thunk"" - it all looks and works to make you feel you're in an upscale home.
