1952 exterior door replacement

Comments:

Good quality but did not match my doors

4 1/2 inch Strike Plate

Comments:

The nickel finish screws are poor quality and finish. Both screws had non-uniform finish and 1 screw broke off during installation while mounting in wood into a drilled pilot hole.

Antique Reno

Comments:

The strike plate is made with high quality and is an excellent choice for restoration projects. Unfortunately, the lock cutouts don't precisely matchup. I would recommend allowing customers to provide direct measurements of the existing mortise lock and having the strike plate made to fit.

Buying an Antique Strike Plate

Comments:

The House of Antique Hardware might be your best bet for fitting an antique strike plate when you have none. I purchased the 4 & 1/2"" Solid Brass Mortise Strike Plate, in a brass finish. This is a simple, unadorned strike plate made to fit a small production indoor skeleton key lock from 1904-1912. I choose to review this item due to the good customer service I received via telephone. While the CS agent was not necessarily ebullient to help, he helped me arrive at a decision that best fit my needs. During the installation I had to file the plate to well-fit the latch and lock bolt on the antique lock. This was an interior door-lock, and may have been originally installed on an exterior door which contributed to some corrosion and rusting. There was more work involved than I had planned in order to properly set the lock in the door, but when all was finished, this new strike plate may the entire experience worthwhile, as it is a solid product.[...]

Easy replacement

Comments:

I needed a custom strike plate to fit an old lock. This brass strike plate was easy to file to make a good fit and the price was reasonable. It would be great if they sold a brass ""blank"" with smaller openings to modify in this size.
