Nice hinges but screws rust
Comments:
The quality of the straps and hinges are great. The screws I received were clearly not exterior grade. As you'll see in the picts they rust. This is only after a year. I contacted HoAH with my concern and they said the rusting was the result of not using a hand screwdriver. That's not the issue as you can see in the picts. The rusting occurs all over the screw not just where a power driver could've slipped. They refunded me 10% of the order and shipped new screws with a paint marker. I was hoping they'd be different but they were identical to the originals. I certainly was not going to go through the hassle of reinstalling them only to end up with the same issue a few months from now, so I spent $70 on stainless screws and now I don't have to worry about them rusting. I'd highly recommend you do the same if you purchase these. Much easier to do it right in the beginning than spending hours reinstalling them. I live in Raleigh NC (nowhere near the beach).

Pair of offset shutter strap hinges.
Comments:
I was able to obtain the correct hinges with advice from the sales person. The hinges were easy to install and worked for the purpose intended, an authentic reproduction look. We have had many people stop by and comment on our new shutters with hardware.
Perfect hardware

Quality and Service
Comments:
Made some shutters for my house located in Ms where Katrina hit and bought some shutter hinges from this company - as well as one other company. House of Antique Hardware had good prices and quick delivery! - Plus the quality seemed stronger/ more durable than the other.
Quality hinges, poor screws and customer service
Comments:
We purchased 16 of the 10"" Pair of 3/4"" Offset Galvanized Iron Shutter Strap Hinges With Plate Pintles. (R-09DE-140-10), which our contractor installed with our new shutters. Within 2 months, all of the screws that attached the pintles to the woodwork have rusted. When I contacted Customer Service to see how they would solve this problem, this was the reply— "" My suggestion is to have someone go to the nearest hardware store and get screws that match or are close and then paint them with a rustoleum black paint so that they do not rust."" Evidently the screws are ordered from India and there are no extra ordered. No replacement or reimbursement was offered to counteract our need to now de-install all the shutters, buy new hardware, and paint to match. Be prepared!
Shutter Hinge
Comments:
Mounted one pair of shutters to test hinge and it worked perfectly.
Solid - perfect!
Comments:
Wonderful, solid, authentic, and well crafted. They make a statement and our neighbors notice them. We have windows on our front porch so it's important they look solid, not cheap. These are GREAT quality and 'heavy'. Obvious value!!
