Cast Iron Rat Tail Casement Latch With Black Powder-coated Finish

I used this latch along with offset strap hinges and shutter dogs from HAH for interior shutters for a rustic/cabin feel of my adult son's living space. Also used on matching closet doors. The result turned out great. The latches are simple and look incredible.

I searched everywhere for a match in style and color for my broken casement window latch. The latch fits perfectly and was easy to install.

I bought these for my 1919 cabin which has casement style windows. They look really good and work well, and I needed them to be reversible, for R or L handed windows. I used a biscuit cutter to make the hole to accept the latch, with some extra chiseling that worked well and was easy. Once I had the proper relationship between the latch and the catch figured out, it was simple to transfer that to each window ( the tongue on the latch needs to be near the top of the catch when closed, so they aren't centered with each other ). They look very authentic, work easily and well, and the powder coated finish should hold up well. I am very plesed with them, and the price.

We get tons of compliments on the hardware throughout our home; our secret is where we get it! Our home was built in the 1700s and is historic. We get many passing through who request tours. The past owners did some restoration work, but we have replaced hardware from the doorknobs to the kitchen cabinets which completely finishes off each room. I LOVE your products!

After purchasing our new house, we were looking to upgrade the ""tired"" casement window hardware without spending a fortune. These latches are perfect. The give just the right amount of detail without being overbearing or ""heavy."" If you have an old Spanish or similar, I highly recommend these.

I used these rattails in a rustic cabin restoration. The doors were handmade and no way to lock (bedroom and bathroom). I needed to add a small block of cedar to get them to match with the door and casing. That added to the ""coolness"" of this product. We've had many compliments on them from the guests staying at our cabin. It adds to the old-time feel.
