Description

Our hardened steel square-cut flooring nails are used for laying tongue-and-groove hardwood flooring (not recommended for face-nailing softwood flooring as the head is too small). These nails have been heat-treated and tempered for special hardness. Rooted in age-old tradition, our period restoration square-cut flooring nails are cut much the same way they were 150 years ago. The result? Outstanding durability and holding power, designed to last a lifetime. Once you've experienced the quality and performance of our vintage reproductions, they'll surely become your preferred choice for a variety of applications. Made in the USA.

Approximate nails per Lb:
243 for the 1 1/4" (3d)
165 for the 1 1/2" (4d)
104 nails for 2" (6d)
88 for the 2 1/4" (7d)
78 for the 2 1/2" (8d)
53 for the 3" (10d)
35 for the 3 1/2" (16d)

Hardware Tip

Square or cut nails are very durable and have been used for over 200 years. They are hard to pull out because their shape causes the wood fibers to push downward and wedge against the nails.

A difficult item to find but you had it.

Comments:

The termites have enjoyed feasting on the old flooring, heart-pine. There is no reasonably priced clear heart pine so I'm looking to go with 1"", quarter-sawn, clear white oak, tongue and groove. It too is expensive but gorgeous. It'll take a hardened nail to install the new floor in the building. The building's timbers are also heart-pine. You have to drill a pilot hole to use a regular nail.

Antique Square Nails

Comments:

Searching for genuine parts to revive an antique home can be difficult, it's hard to trust you will get a quality item that will match the integrity of the home. I found exactly what I needed with these antique square nails. They blend perfectly with our 175 square nails in our flooring - I couldn't be happier with these! Thank you so much for having exactly what we need - your a great resource for those of us trying to revive old and forgotten homes back to their glory! Tina
