Passage Tubular Latch - 2 3/8-Inch Backset

When an antique door reqiures replacement, a huge concern is matching up the hinge allignments, and those of the latch mechanism. My antique latch had shattered, so I purchased one from ""House"" which I hoped would fit in the allready drilled hole, and of course, work. Anticipation built up untill the day the new latch arrived... I slowly unpacked it, slid it into the hole, attached the door knobs, and closed the door. Then I opened the door. Three times. IT WAS PERFECT!!!

it works great once we figured it out. the black piece only needed for a 2.5 inch regular doorknob precut, NOT the old doorknob hole we were working with...which caused some consternation on this end. installation instructions should have been included in the bag...IMHO!

The only draw-back with this item was that the pre-drilled hole in the door was 7/8"" and this item is more nearly 3/4"". I had to do a bit of filing to make it work. No lazy man wants to do additional work, at least not me.

I've used 2 of these to put old knobs on the newer closet doors in my 100 year old house to go inline with the rest of the original hardware. Straight forward installation and works as expected.

Bought for hallway closet door. Installed in 5 mins. Make sure you measure before ordering. I did not realize there were different sizes. This is the first one I put in. Works well.
