Triple-Strand Twisted Picture Hanging Cord - 3/16-inch Diameter

Antique gold is a bit too yellow orange. But the problem with regular gold is that it gets dirty. And when it gets dirty it looks pretty bad. The other thing to be aware of is that regardless of whether there is wire in the cord, it will stretch when used on a heavier painting But bottom line is this stuff is essential to use in a historic home. Be glad it is still available.

We used this cord to hang pictures along with the scrolling vine picture rail hook in two rooms of our home with picture rail moulding. Works great, holds moderately heavy items (a large mirror) and completes a period-appropriate aesthetic for our Bungalow.

I ordered this product about a year ago and it came with a wire at the center of the cord which made it very strong and I felt completely safe in hanging heavy pictures with it. I assumed (wrongly) when I ordered some more this year it would be the same. But it is not. There is no wire at the center and it will not hold as heavy a picture. Luckily for me, I hung my heaviest pictures last year with the old cord. I wouldn't dare hang anything substantial with this cord. It looks quite nice, but it unravels and doesn't look especially durable.

Color and size was suitable for project. Managing the cut ends was problematic.

I designed and built a wall mounted, swing-down clothes hanger for our laundry room. I needed an attractive, but strong material to support the hanger in the down position. This was a perfect solution.

We have a historic home, old fram house and we hung a picture rail in all room to hang our pictures from, instead of putting a bunch of holes in the wall. We found the gold color highlights most wall colors we have in our rooms.

I used this cord to hang item from the picture rail hangers in my dining room. Very nice.

Now I can hang even large, heavy paintings without ruining old plaster: I just suspend them from the ceiling beam with this picture cord.
