A sufficient tool for operable transom windows

Comments:

This is an interesting piece of hardware. To properly function as it was designed, this hook must be fastened to a pole or dowel to add length, which you'll need to find/furnish separately. Then the hook will be long enough to reach a round latch fastened to your transom window. Pros: Handy tool (especially if you have multiple transom windows with round latches), professional finish that improves over time (other antique-by-hand hardware purchased over the years is still looking great!), period appropriate, one hook can be used for multiple transom windows (provided each has a round latch that accepts the hook), a unique conversation-starter (friends and family will surely ask ""What's that?"" and almost everyone likes a tutorial on how it's used!) Cons: You need to have a dowel or pole to which this hardware can attach, and the hardware does not come with a screw to fasten to such a pole or dowel. You'll need to employ some DIY skills to add some length to the hook in order to use it as intended. This tool may not be *necessary* for every transom window considering some may not have latches that can receive the hook, but it is *sufficient* to open transom windows with round latches without having to climb a step stool or ladder.

Could not imagine having transoms without the opener. Using the latch hook is easy and adds a finishing touch.

The transom opens!

Thank you for carrying the transom window hook. Our hundred year old home used to have one, but it had disappeared at some point over the years. The new one is made the way the old one was, and it works wonderfully. Now I don't have to climb a ladder to open the transom.

Transom window latch hook

Comments:

I could not reach the window latch over the front and back doors. After I hunted through hardware stores for something to use other then getting a ladder every time I needed to open and close the window I found what I needed. The transom window latch hook was discovered while searching for other transom hardware and when I saw it I knew it was just what I needed to open and close the window. No more climbing a ladder or a chair now and my husband doesn't have to worry about coming home and finding me on the floor.

Well made, sturdy

Comments:

These transom window openers work great with the transom latches. They are very easy to use to open the transom latch. They are very sturdy and have a nice finish. You need a dowel to place inside of them. In our case, we used a stick since we were using them in a rustic cabin.
