Square-Cut Common Nails

The nails I received worked fine for the application they were used for. After seeing them I think The box nails would have been a better choice but that is on me. I am old school and still like to have the purchases in hand rather than ordering on line.

Used them in the restoration of a window frame from the 1890's. Looked just liked the ones that were there! Used in a combination of new wood and original wood. The shanks are bigger than modern nails so in the very dry and hard original wood required pilot holes to keep from spitting. The head is oblong with the shank wedge shaped underneath -- be sure to orient the oblong head along the grain or you will split for sure. In new wood they worked great!

I needed some traditional style nails for a project of mine. These was perfect. They have what I needed and they look good on my project. I have had people ther looks at my project say they really like those nails.

These are really beautifully made nails, and very authentic. The per-package count is spot-on. As another reviewer states, soak them in plain vinegar overnight and they take on an ideal grey patina that is perfect for barn boards.

Admittedly ,after receiving the products we do what's necessary to create something aged appropriate before using . But, it's always been the right product to begin with
