I was lead to believe that this item was solid brass. It is NOT ! It will jump to a magnet ! Brass is non-magnetic ! I really have to wonder how many so called solid brass items in the House of Antique Hardware are really plated STEEL !!!
Fit and secure

I was commissioned to construct four doors to close in a breezeway for retail property that was built in the late 50's. They originally had a roll-up fence door, which had no appeal, and wanted something to make the ornate wood in the breezeway. The doors were constructed of 2"" thick maple, with glass in the top section and raised panel in lower section. The doors had to be able to be secured without a bar being on the outside face of the door. I was able to find these flush mounted bolts so be set in the edge of the doors to secure them in plae when open as well as when closed. The way they were attached was clean and very presentable. The client raved about them and was very pleased on how well and easy they worked.
Great Brass Flush Bolt for French Doors
Comments:
The flush bolts were an exact replacement for existing flush bolts on my french doors. It was easy to remove the old bolts (different brand; 34 years old) and the new bolt was a perfect fit (6""). We did take the door off of its hinges and set it on its side to install the flush bolts. There is a screw that goes on the bottom (or top, depending on where you place the bolt) which is almost impossible to install if the door is hanging. With the door off the hinges, it was simple to screw in the final brass screws to top and bottom flush bolts. Looked great once completed and fits quite securely. Much better than the old bolts and very attractive.
great price, great product,

Great sturdy replacement
Comments:
This door bolt was a joy to install, with a spade bit and wood chissels they went in very easily. My only complaint is the screws that attach them need large pilot holes as I broke off 4 of them screwing into oak jambs. The heft of the bolt in these units is impresive. Overall a very satisfied customer.
Iwill, for a match
Comments:
One was too stiff; had to bend the springs. Bronze? More like a brownze finish.
Just as shown in the picture

We purchased this item with several other items for the renovation of our 1875 Victorian building. we had to buy a lot of items (knobs, hinges, vents, etc) so we did a lot of research and House of Antique Hardware had the best prices for what we were looking for. They even consulted with us on styles appropriate for our space. I would definitely order from them again.
