Description

These slotted 5/16-24 set screws are used with vintage style door knobs mounted on threaded spindles. The screw threads through the knob shank and tightens directly onto the spindle (not to be confused with headed set screws used for tightening knobs onto tapped spindles). Made of brass-plated steel.

Dimensions: 5/16" in diameter by 5/16" in length, with 24 threads per inch.

Hardware Tip

Most vintage home hardware falls into one major era of the last few centuries: Colonial, Federal, Victorian, Arts & Crafts, and Modern.

Brass set screws

Comments:

These work very well to secured old door knobs to the door spindle.

Didn't work for my purpose but that was my error

Comments:

These are lovely I am just very bad at measuring threads

Doorknob set screws (5/16-24)

Comments:

Some doorknobs use set screws of this type (5/16-24). Be sure that the knobs you are working with require this specific size.

I will definitely continue buying products from you

Quick response from order entry to delivery

Missing set screw

Comments:

Worked to replace a missing set screw in 100 yr old house.

Needle in a haystack

Comments:

I would prefer that these screws be solid brass, but alas, they are only available brass plated. They do, however, fit perfectly into my antique brass door handles, and look good doing it. The hardware store does not carry brass set screws, so this was my only option. Perfect length and fit without needing a thread checker.

Perfect for Vintage Hardware Restoration

Comments:

Vintage doorknobs frequently unusable without these insert screws, hard to find in different sizes. Nice to discover a reliable source of quality parts.

Quality set screw, wrong size for my needs.

Comments:

Thea brass set screws are solid. Unfortunately, the threads weren't fine enough to fit the 50s storm door hardware I bought them for. I haven't been able to locate fine enough threaded set screws anywhere.

Replacement Screws

Comments:

Replaced old steel screws; adds to appearance

Seeking just right set screws

Comments:

House of Antique Hardware went above and beyond in customer service. They did not happen to have the part I needed but took the time to answer all my questions and pointed me too someone the might be able to help restore an original 1942 door knob. I highly recommend them.
