Description

Our traditional iron hook & eye works on shutters, gates or even doors. Use it to hold them open or securely closed. Made of heavy duty iron, galvanized and finished with a rust resistant black powder coat to coordinate with most exterior hardware. The hook is hand forged and the bases (eyes) are made of cast iron. Available in 4 lengths.

Dimensions:
Hook/Eye Length: 4", Overall: 4 7/8"
Hook/Eye Length: 8", Overall: 9"
Hook/Eye Length: 12", Overall: 12 3/4"
Hook/Eye Length: 16", Overall: 16 7/8"
Mounting plate: 1" W x 1 1/4" H
Hook bar: 5/16"

Hardware Tip

Galvanized iron and steel is plated with zinc before the powder-coating is applied. This dramatically increases the rust resistance over items that are only painted or powder-coated.

1720 house with old doors

Comments:

We have these everywhere for old doors that are hard to keep closed

As expected

Comments:

We were installing on an old restaurant door shutter to hold open. Worked great and looked great with other hardware we were installing

Children's Barn

Comments:

They were used on reproduction dutch doors for a barn and look great

Door Holder!

Comments:

I used the hook and eye to holder our outswing patio French door when the days are windy!

Ease to close a gate

Comments:

For years a fancier gate closure worked, but not always shutting completely. This hook and eye closure does the job with understated elegance.

Exactly what I expected. Good quality.

Comments:

Simple latch to a pair of shutters.

Exactly What I Needed!

Comments:

My coffee table is designed like a fancy storage trunk and the top of it splits open from the center outward. The flaw in the design is they didn't provide a way to lock the top in place so that objects that are set on top don't fall into the inside if any unknowing person put their weight on it and it split open quickly. This has been very frustrating (and some of my decorations have broke as a result). I installed two of these hook and eye latches (one for each side) to lock it in place and it's so much better! One would have done the trick, but I like the added security with kids running around. It even looks like the hardware belongs with the trunk. It's easy to ""unlock"" both latches to access the storage area. I highly recommend!

Eye for a Hook!

Comments:

We literally live in one of the old county ""poor houses."" Hardware for the period in which the home was built is sometimes challenging to find, and not always of good quality. This hook and eye system was for a pantry door that refused to stay shut. The hook and eye system is well made, well finished and works perfectly. No problem to install or use!

Fantastic, wish it were stainless steel.

Comments:

It is perfect for the shutters on our 18th century villa. I just wish they were stainless steel given the ocean environment we live in. That said, I have coated them in oil black gloss paint and they have not rusted over the past 8 years.

Forged iron hook

Comments:

Coupled with exposed door hinges of same material and style.
