Smooth Iron 8 3/4" Heart Rim-Latch Set

Love this set. Great alternative to regular door lock sets. Complements other black iron colonial style hardware from House of Antique Hardware

Perfect match for antique latches already installed in antique house. TIP: a really smart cat can open a thumb latch.

Will be using this product with a custom made door in an older home, and so the style goes well with the other hardware in the rest of the house.

The handle and push button look good and are about the right size for the closet and bathroom doors in my cabin. However the latch lever is painfully too short and the handle barely clears the door jam on the door that opens in. I realize that this was designed for storm or screen doors without much mounting space and springs to hold the door closed. However on a gate without a spring to help keep it closed the latch components are much too small to hold up to even light force from wind, pets or small livestock.

Door latch is installed on a mahogany screen door. The rod iron heart pattern matches the heart cut out pattern on 12 over 12 windows of this late 18th century New England farm house. My only frustration is with the way the directions are written. Interpreting the drawings was not intuitive for me. For example, interpreting a solid line and dash lines. A bit more text to explain different installation options would be very helpful.

I caretake an original house built in 1740 with another addition built in 1808.The house is registered a historic land mark here in Boonton New Jersey.It is the up most importance to keep the house as original as possible.I needed to replace some door hardware and found exact match right down to the finish.The rim latch set looks like it been thier from a day long gone.The hardware fit right in the original cut out absolutely on modification needed.
