Solid-Bronze Door Holder

Used on a child-gate in a Century home.

We purchased this hook to ""stop"" and to ""hold"" the top section of a Dutch door when opened. The door opens just past 90 degrees. But the top section of the door would smack into our kitchen cabinets were there not something there to ""stop"" the door. (We mounted a more conventional stop on the baseboard for stopping the door when opened as a whole unit.) But beyond stopping the door, this hardware acts to ""hold"" the door open. This feature will prevent sudden gusts of wind from slamming the door shut again which might result in broken glass. It's easy to release the door when it's time to close the door. To finesse the installation of this door stop to our situation, we had our contractors install the cabinet-mounted ""catch"" side of the hook at a slight angle using a small wedge of wood painted to match the cabinets. This allows the door-mounted hook to meet the cabinet-mounted catch at the perfect angle (aligned at 180 degrees to each other). Perfection!
