I used this item to cover a mail slot that was cut into the door. As i had a black door knob, this item was the perfect size, and black finish was a bonus, looks like the door is perfect. I like that i found a black push plate that could be installed horizontal.
New use for a push plate!

I'm reusing old doors in a remodel of a 1910 arts and craft bungalow. I cut these plates in half, finished the edges, drilled new screw holes as needed. Then covered the old holes from the mortise lock. New standard lockset was installed above that at normal 36"" height.
Paw Proof Push Plate

This black, powder coated cast iron push plate was the solution I was looking for to keep my Rottweilers from destroying our back porch door. Several times a day my two Rotties let me know when they need to go outdoors by scraching on the door and their sharp nails left long, deep grooves on the door. I tried using the push plates found at the local do-it-yourself stores but the finish on the plates didn't last a day. Your cast iron push plate holds up and I have not yet detected any observable scratches--amazing. Although it hasn't been necessary, if a scratch should appear, it would be a simple matter to touch it up with a black matt paint. I am happy I found your site on the internet. Your push plate product resolved my problem and is an attractive addition to the door.
Perfect for this old house.

Perfect for my purpose. Though it's a push plate I used it for a kick plate on our front door. The door fits tightly enough that it needs a kick to seat it but I don't want to cut any off as it shrinks during dry weather. This is just the touch it needed.
Protects door from large paws

I have big dogs and was looking for something to protect a Dutch door from scratch marks. I couldn't find anything with the right dimension or the right look for the door (rustic, leads to an antique barn). The push plate is a perfect find - a bit more than I had hoped to pay but a lot nicer looking than anything else. The dogs don't seem to notice but I'm very happy with this solution.
Push Plate

I bought the push plate to protect my kitchen door from my new dog. Perhaps my husband installed it a little too low, because she still scratches above it. Nevertheless it is doing the job of protecting the door fairly well.
Very functional for intended use
Comments:
Not only did it work well, it even helped to stabilize a weak area in the screen door on which it was placed.
Very good looking piece of hardware

I own a 1930's Cape Cod that hadn't been loved in a long time. Every repair/improvement we've done, we have tried to make it look original. This push plate works great with the period.
