Description

Our most successful master skeleton keys! We've found that this pair of differently notched bit keys will typically operate 2 out of 3 antique mortise locks (results not guaranteed - operability can only be determined by testing). Made of zinc, with bright brass plating. Please note: this set consists of items W-06HG-400PK & W-06HG-400NK, which are also sold separately as well.

Overall length: 3 1/8". Barrel length (from bow to bit): 1 7/8". Barrel diameter: 1/8". Bit is 7/16" W x 3/8" H.

Hardware Tip

The bow is the ring part that you hold, the barrel is the tube in the center and the bit is the tooth like part on the end.

""I would buy these keys again""

Comments:

I tied these keys on my handmade Christmas cards with ribbon. They were the perfect size and made a very unique card. Everyone who received the cards loved them and the keys. I'm so glad I found your company. I do plan on ordering a few larger keys in the darker colors for use in my home.

A Real Money Saver

Comments:

These antique based keys really saved me a lot of money. Some of my doors in my house I really like to keep locked. I moved into this house thinking I'd have to rekey and do a lot of work on the interior doors. This was way easier. I came upon this site by pure accident, and I am glad I made this purchase before I started getting out any power tools.

adapts well for our needs

Comments:

We were able to tarnish the finish to make it exactly match the original key also cut it to fit the lock .

almost made it!

Comments:

some work...et c. one more groove and the match would have been exact.

Beautiful...but didn't work

Comments:

The keys are beautiful...lighter weight than I expected. We have a 20-year-old Victorian replica with 14 vintage doorknobs salvaged from other structures before they were torn down. I don't know if the doorknobs are not installed well, or if we just hit on a bunch of doorknobs that don't match the keys. Only one key worked on one doorknob.

Both keys worked

Comments:

Both of the keys worked in my lock. The keys don't feel heavy duty, so I wouldn't stress them too much

Brass Skeleton Door Keys

Comments:

Intend to use on 100 year old house. Looking for lock springs.

Decorative touch

Comments:

I bought several sets as momentos to good friends who gather occassionally in friendship. Not only was the beauty of them appreciated but the group brings its keys to reunions, placing them on the table prior to discussion! Keys look elegant hung from ribbons. If the rest of your hardware matches the quality and prices of these, your company will do well. How much classier are the keys than plaques or t-shirts which no one wants anyway! An idea: Market these for fraternity or sorority reunions. Do not change the keys at all! Perhaps a pretty box with a ribbon and tag inside noting the group involved would be lovely to market. Vary ribbon colors according to school colors. Good luck.

Did not work for me :(

Comments:

One of these keys worked to lock my old door, but did not work well to open it. I had to really play around with it to get it unlocked. I would not try to lock it again. To be fair, the website only claims that it opens a percentage of mortise locks but does not claim to fit all locks. I would still buy them again since it was only a few dollars and it was certainly worth a try.
