These are so handsome; a pity they've cheapened the glass!
Comments:
We bought 6 of these beautiful lights in various sizes two years ago. I had long searched for proper outdoor lights for our Federal house. Hard to find. When these appeared, they were just what I'd wanted in each size and style. The black surface texture is wonderful, the shapes simple but sophisticated, not too overblown, each size/style unique but harmonizes with the others. One quite striking and appealing flourish for these otherwise not overly adorned lights was their extraordinary ""waterfall"" textured glass panes. Their heavily textured surface made the individual candle bulbs less overtly visible, while imparting a remarkably rich and dramatic quality to the light produced. As happens with glass, several panes got broken by electricians mounting one medium pendant light from a heavy 18th C forged iron arm. They misjudged the weight of the antique iron arm with the leveraging effect of its 20"" length on the weight of the fixture. Three panes smashed. I contacted HAH for replacement panes after noting with trepidation that the current Henry St description refers only to ""seeded"" glass. When the diligent HAH customer service rep contacted the company making these lights, they hadn't a clue whether the panes they're using now are the same as their originals, nor what seeded glass even means. They noted (in Summer 2023) that they'd have no glass panels for their existing customers until far into 2024. I'm astonished that a company making outdoor fixtures requiring glass wouldn't anticipate and provide for customers' needs for replacement panes. After all, an electric light can't safely be used outdoors without its protective glass. And the original ""rainfall"" glass? Several months on, they still don't know if it's the same kind they're using now or not. Can't even identify it. Time passing but no progress. These are great lights but be sure you're okay with not knowing what style glass you'll get, and how you'll manage for many months when panes get broken.
