Forged Brass Rosette - 2" Diameter

It precisely matched the brass piece which needed replaced on my antique door project. The polish and sheen are both very fine. The only con was that the supplied screws do not have the same antique shape as my originals. The original screws are semi-rounded off and the ones from HofAH are completely flat.

We have had problems all over our older house (built 1938) with screws coming loose in the rosettes. As a result, the loose rosettes didn't support the spindle and the lock mechanism didn't work very well. Finally, we took one of the old rosettes off and found the problem. The original carpenter in 1938 had drilled the center holes for the knob spindles much too big. Their diameter was very close to or overlapping the screw holes for the rosettes. No wonder the screws kept coming loose. We were overjoyed to find House of Antique Hardware carried 2"" rosettes which were larger than our original rosettes so the screw holes are further from the center. Also, the new rosettes are cast not pressed like our original rosettes. A real upgrade in rosette quality and also a solution to the installation problem. We were conservative and ordered just 2 rosettes as a test for one door. Because the tolerances to miss the big spindle hole were still tight, we designed and made two spacers to hold the knob/rosette firmly in place so the screw holes could be accurately marked with the rosette in place. The door lock works beautifully now!! As a result, we have ordered 20 brass and 2 nickle rosettes to replace all the rest of the rosettes in our house. Incidentally, I said above that installation was at the ""experienced handyman"" level because of our special installation problem. Had we not had the too big hole problem, installation would have been ""average do-it-yourself"" level. We are very please with the product and with our conversations with Eva who helped us with our order.

The Rosettes matched the doorknobs I bought and are of the style and size of those in our old home. Good price. Two for two!
