Description

This sturdy spindle is designed to facilitate new or vintage doorknobs with nonthreaded or threaded shanks of 20 TPI. The hardened steel construction provides smooth operation and long-lasting wear. With a 5" length, it's ideal for thicker doors. Features a standard 9/32" thickness and tapped for 10-24 set screws.

Dimensions: 5" L x 9/32" thick. 20 TPI. Drilled for 10-24 set screws.

Hardware Tip

If you need a threaded spindle you need to know what the threads per inch are and check to see that the spindle thickness is small enough to fit through the hub of your lock or latch.

we were refinishing the front inside entry door when the spindel broke. We were havin spindle that would fit the thickness until we found this one . So we were able to continue to keep and use the door that was original to the door.

For my door

Saved my door

Comments:

Doorknob kept slipping off, going loose so I replaced the spindle with this long version and used an old screw I had from an old door to securely fasten the knob to the spindle. What I had previously was sold by a local locksmith store who said that they didn't sell anymore the kind of doorknob sets where the screw would go through the doorknob into the spindle, instead using the short screws that simply tighten against the straight side of a spindle. Well that is, in my opinion, a dumb move because those small screws slowly loosen up and then the doorknob spins around the spindle and the door won't open. Now that I've gone the ""old fashioned"" route, I no longer need to keep a screwdriver near the door to tighten those small screws. Now I only wish I could find more of the longer necked screws that screw into the spindle holes.

Will be ordering more

Perfect size for thicker older doors. Have looked everywhere and could not find them.
