Smooth Iron 12 1/4" Heart Rim-Latch Set

This is a beautiful gate thumb latch. It's well made and works well for its purpose. We bought the 12 1/4"" for our 7' tall fence gate and we think it is the right size. As for the install: there are extra pieces in the box for alternate gate installations. This was confusing at first to us as the provided diagram is highly technical. Fortunately, the 2nd page has written instructions, which after some time helped us to complete the install. All in all, the install isn't hard if you have the right tools and can actually be done fairly quickly. Locking feature: There is a small bar that rotates to provide a locking mechanism on the inside of the gate. It works, but isn't that great as it's a small securing bar and over time may likely fail. I'd recommend anyone looking for added security to consider searching for ""padlock eyes"" to add to the door jamb. This is a separate quick install that doesn't take away from this gate hardware and allows you to add a padlock on the inside of the gate. And lastly, I'd also recommend buying a basic handle for the inside of the gate to complement the existing hardware to complete the look and make it easier to open. See my included pictures below. We had our garage doors built and these handles were what we were looking for. They are very rustic and fit the decor of our log home. Would highly recommend. Customer service was very helpful in answering our questions prior to purchase.
