Description

The simplicity of our 3 1/2 inch cast iron barrel hinge is at home in a variety of home styles. It features a vintage-iron finish, and an original two knuckle design. The pin is not removable. Select left or right handing.

Dimensions: 3 3/8" H x 3 1/2" W. Knuckle: 1/2" Dia. Leaf: 1 1/2" W. Leaf thickness: 1/8". Fasteners: #M4 x 1" wood screws. Rated for: 100 lbs. per pair.

Question: How are butt hinges measured? Answer: The height is just of the leaf not including the finials and the width is the total open width of both leaves and the knuckle.

Good barrel hinge - not great screws

Comments:

Used this to replace some hinges when I flipped the swing of an interior door. The hinge itself is quite solid, and is as described. This plain style of barrel hinge is hard to find, and I'm happy with the result. Looks good, feels sturdy, matches the other hinges in the house (cast iron hinges ca. 1910). The screws it came with were too small and of poor quality (one was even ""mis-forged"" and the head was misshapen and unable to be driven as a result). I replaced the screws with some antique brass screws I had, and was happy with the ultimate result.

handed lift off hinges

Period iron hinge

Comments:

Hinges work fine. Since it was a barrel hinges, I keep dropping half of it while installing. Had to reorder more because I thought I was ordering pairs, but are singles.
