What really saved me was the patience of the experts in getting the right latch and spindle at the right dimension. The website is okay but I couldn't have installed the stuff without their help. ALso I had to return some stuff and the refund was very fast.
High Quality Backset Door Latch
Comments:
I live in a house with brass door knobs and latches from the 1930s. They're beautiful but very difficult to find replacement parts for. Working with House of Antique Hardware was great, they made it easy to fund high quality replacement parts that look like a match.
I FOUND IT!!!

in all respects i was very satisfied with this transaction and would definitely deal with and/or recommend this vendor again!
Just Better
Comments:
We purchased these latch sets after trying and returning sets purchased at the local ""big box"" store. These sets are sturdier and of much higher quality. Well worth the price.
Perfect new parts to use along with authentic antiques

House of Antique Hardware seems to always have what we need when we run into a wall looking for salvaged or antique pieces! Great quality, price & customer service!
Superb hardware, friendly, flexible and prompt!

Doorknobs and hinges: people don't really notice them usually. But these are so solid, well-made, and smoothly functioning, that they quietly and unobtrusively improve the quality of life in the house a little bit.
tubular latch with design flaw
Comments:
The cylindrical latch has a problem. It moves in and out with the twist of the door knob but it also spins (which is the problem). The end of the latch is beveled so when you close the door, the latch at the bevel hits the latch plate moves in allowing the door to close. That is normal behavior. However, the the latch rotates/spins, so the non-beveled part of the latch hits the plate and the door just bounces off. It is very aggravating. The latch rotates if someone brushes against it when they walk past the door. This is the case with both the standard and non-standard (2 2/4"") back set.
