The fitter is the outside diameter of the round opening at the small end of the shade. This should be a little smaller than the size of the shade holder on your fixture.

Lovely and delicate-looking

Replaced ceiling fan manufacturer's ordinary glass shades with these and the effect was exactly what I'd hoped for: pretty, lacy and perfect vintage look.
Very Chic

These shades are very chic and are perfect for my shabby chic bedroom. I didn't give it 5 stars because one of the shades had two chips inn the top rim. You couldn't see them once it were inserted in the shade holder and it fit snug enough so I decided to keep it. Very pretty and very feminine.
