The fitter is the outside diameter of the round opening at the small end of the shade. This should be a little smaller than the size of the shade holder on your fixture.

I needed to replace old, truly unattractive shades on a quality brass fixture with rococo features. These shades are very simple in design, so they could be added without worry about clashes of styles. The opal glass allows me to put in bright bulbs and not feeling blinded when looking up at them. They arrived very carefully wrapped and without any problems.
