An antique hardware company made of gold
Comments:
I spent a long time looking for these locks. Then I found these folk. The locks arrived in ""two shakes of a lamb's tail"". The people I dealt with were friendly and helpful. I received a great catalog of the company's products along with the second set of hinges in two or three days. I was so impressed with the product, the speedy delivery, and the friendly professional service, I wanted to share my discovery of them with my local hardware store's owner, a third generation small business which now has some thirty employees and the love of all in our neighborhood. I told the store's owner how impressed with the quality and variety which is offered by this company. He now has their catalog. Good business generates more good business. Thank you to the people who helped me get my rare Cincinnatti Shop of the Crafters desk working once again. I will gladly return when I have need of quality hardware for my shop or my home.
Disappointed with this purchase

I want to replace the lock on an antique Larkin drop front secretary. This lock is the right size, but I have spent too much time trying to make this work, and it is hopeless. The first thing I notice with this replacement lock is that the bolt on the one I received was slightly misaligned, so you have to turn the key extra hard to raise the bolt, because it scrapes against the housing of the bolt a bit. I figured I could make it work easier by lubricating it, but then came the next issue. This replacement lock fits into the roughed out area where the old lock was seated, but it is very slightly smaller. The old lock didn't even need a screw or nail to hold it in place, the new lock came with a very short nail that goes into the one ""hole"" at the base of the lock. It is a very thin nail, there is not a screw thin enough to take its place. The short nail that was supplied had no where near enough ability to support the use of this lock. I went to the hardware store to purchase a slightly longer, but just as thin nails of 3/4 inch. Still not going to hold the lock without wobbling when you turn the key. And the whole lock would have simply fallen off in time, I know. A one inch nail is too long, but I did try it. I am not a woodworker, just a person wanting a replacement lock on a desk. If this lock had two holes that are slightly larger, to hold a larger screw or nail, then I think this could have worked in spite of the misaligned bolt. I have wasted too much time, and this lock is not going to work for me. It's just trash, not worth the trouble to return it at this point.

I would have liked it in brass or antique finish on the key
Needing an antique key

The patent on the existing locks was 1886. Now I have a key that will work with the locks. Thank you.

I restore antiques. Had a dropdown bookcase that need a new lock assembly. Yours fit perfect.
Right to the left of center!
Comments:
China cabinets are useless if you can't protect the contents. Since the original hole was there, replacement was relatively simple, so thanks for being right there with the part I needed!
The case of the broken lock.

The locks slide into their slots perfectly.
WOW can't be beat at this price!

This lock is designed well the back must be inled into the wood with a dovetail, as it should! The only problem is that it is supplied with only one key and that key is the same on all of these locks. Additional keys are available if you only buy one lock. Too bad these aren't also availble with true keys, but then the price would have to be much much higher. These are a very good value. The keys are usable but of inferior metal, Buy spare keys!
